Summary

The BIM/VDC Coordinator supports the development and execution of BIM/VDC strategies across B&D projects, while also serving as an internal trainer and support lead for Autodesk tools, with a primary focus on Revit. This role requires both technical expertise and the ability to coach, train, and empower design and construction professionals at all skill levels. The Coordinator will work closely with the BIM Manager, BIM team, Project Managers, and field staff to ensure BIM workflows are efficient, well-coordinated, and aligned with industry standards and company practices. In addition to training responsibilities, this position oversees the BIM team for their assigned projects by utilizing Revit and other BIM software to create and manage accurate, coordinated design models and construction drawings. The role includes active collaboration with other trades to plan and coordinate 3D model content prior to installation, using a variety of BIM technologies and tools.

Responsibilities

· Oversee the implementation of BIM/VDC supporting software

· Research new BIM/VDC related software that may be needed to improve systems

· Provide guidance, motivation, and leadership to the BIM team

· Responsible for adhering to both B&D and industry best standards, processes, procedures, and support the team in following those guidelines

· Identify and implement efficiencies and procedural improvements in the company's BIM procedures

· Provide BIM training and mentoring to the team on current and new software

· Read and understand construction documents and specifications along with architecture, mechanical, and electrical systems, and apply this knowledge to 3D modeling

· Demonstrate basic Revit MEP tools such as the Project Browser, Properties, Type Selector, Conduit, Cable Tray, and insert a variety of family types

· Capable of taking the lead in importing different trade files and performing model clash detection

· Represents B&D in BIM Coordination meetings with other trades and the customer

· Update models to reflect as-built conditions, produce accurate and timely 3D modeling and spool drawings for field installation and prefabrication

· Knowledgeable of the needs and requirements of B&D’s Preconstruction, and assists in identifying scopes that can be modeled, prefabricated, and prepared for field installation

· Utilize Microsoft Office and other tools, applying strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to meet deadlines and maintain professional standards under pressure

· Foster collaborative relationships and work independently or within a team, taking initiative to learn, adapt, and support organizational goals effectively

· Proficient in creating custom Revit families, as well as schedules to enhance productivity

· Develop 3D Revit models that can be used to produce a set of accurate and well-coordinated structural construction documents

· Physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pushing/ pulling, walking, lifting, and climbing

· The job requires advanced computer knowledge and experience, along with advanced critical thinking skills

· Other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned

 

Qualifications and Experience:
 

Required:

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in BIM coordination, VDC, or related roles within the construction industry.

· Advanced proficiency in Revit and Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC).

· Minimum of one year of management experience.

· Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to train both technical and non-technical staff.

· Experience developing and delivering both in-person and virtual trainings.

Preferred:

· Experience with creating families, manipulating parameters, and managing schedules.

· Bachelor's or college degree in BIM, CAD, or drafting studies is preferred.

· Relevant work experience may substitute for the degree.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position includes, but is not limited to, supervision of the BIM Modelers & BIM Detailers.
