Summary
A Safety Manager requires a problem solver who likes change and innovation while controlling the big picture. This role implements and promotes a safe environment for employees and customers, preventing bodily injuries and damage or loss to property in the workplace. Responsibilities include enforcing, follow-through, and compliance with project safety, health, and environmental plans. Maintaining and maximizing risk mitigation and workplace safety leadership across the company, at all times. Ultimately responsible for ensuring that B&D staff has the highest caliber of appropriately safety equipment and tools needed to complete work. Additionally, daily presence on job sites is required to perform safety audits and support safety and risk management initiatives. This position depends upon confidence, independent action, initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. A well-suited candidate can react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them. There are a lot of challenges and pressure. People and problems must be handled with confidence and determination. This job requires self-assurance and competitive drive. The responsibilities are broad in scope, encompassing a wide variety of activities with rapid shifts in priorities. This is primarily a task-focused job, requiring a somewhat authoritative, directive leadership style that encourages results-driven, task-oriented collaboration.

Responsibilities
· Ensure all B&D Safety, site-specific, and OSHA specific safety guidelines are adhered to on all projects
· Supports efforts for the training of field and/or office individuals on safety and productivity
· Establishes, clearly communicates, and takes all steps reasonably calculated to ensure safe working conditions at the job site
· Supports efforts for developing and promoting OSHA safety requirements and best practices/methods
· Make recommendations on safety improvements
· Develops future managers
· Ensuring all employees have current OSHA training
· Provide communication, training, and enforcement of policies to staff
· Troubleshoot and identify ways to safely improve project productivity, and provide on-going training and development of field staff safety
· Developing site-specific safety program plans to include emergency actions, response, evacuation, and security plans
· Implement and enforce an accident prevention plan and ensure contractor compliance with all safety and health requirements
· Provide technical assistance to office and field operations to understand and comply with our policies, regulations, and customer requirements
· Physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing
· The job requires advanced computer proficiency and critical thinking skills
· Other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned
Education and Experience
· Safety engineering degree or equivalent qualification
· Minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction safety, 3 of which in management role
· Equivalent industry training
· Certification(s) in safety-related field - OSHA 500, CHST, CSP
Supervisory Responsibility
This position includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of Safety Professionals and Safety Coordinators.
