Summary

The primary role of the Safety Coordinator is to provide support to site safety leadership, back facility compliance with corporate safety standards, drive safety directives, conduct jobsite audits to improve safety performance, and guide facility safety rules, policies, and procedures. The job requires a detail-oriented and conservative type, with a preference for high quality and technical expertise because you must be thorough and leave nothing to chance. The major duties of this job involve precise structure, attention to detail, and conscientiousness of oneself and for others. Job tasks will vary rather than be repetitive and will require a faster-than-average pace to complete work requirements. The Safety Coordinator determines the best way to prevent accidents, creates a safe place to work, and gets others to care about safety. B&D’s success hinges on safety coordinators that can make a real impact.

Responsibilities

· Support trainings based on an analysis of employees showing an area of training is needed
· Support and work with site Safety Professional
· Safety management of people, supplies, equipment, and B&D’s Behavior Base Safety Program (BBS), which requires participation and support
· Review and communicate BBS monthly for company reporting
· Safety counseling and coaching to employees to provide ideas on how to complete a job and/or project in a safe manner
· Ensuring all employees have current OSHA training
· Creating and providing trainings based on analysis of employee function as needed
· Monthly maintenance and reporting of BBS for company reporting
· Conducting toolbox talks for small to large groups of staff
· Creating and reviewing safety plans
· Documenting work observations
· Analyzing safety data
· Input and track safety records
· Managing and reporting incidents
· Maintaining company and government compliance
· Preventing workplace health and safety hazards
· Designing and implementing frameworks for risk management
· Managing change regarding organization-wide initiatives
· Researching and strategizing emerging and complex risks
· Collaborating across the business on varying enterprises
· Physical demands include long hours of sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing
· Job requires intermediate computer proficiency and advanced critical thinking skills
· Other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned

Education and Experience

· High School degree
· Certification(s) in safety-related field - OSHA 500, CHST
· Relevant work experience may substitute for the certificate(s)
