Summary
The best person for the Senior Project Manager position is an independent problem-solver who likes change and
innovation while controlling the big picture. This management role oversees all aspects of projects and
management workflow from commencement to completion, exceeding customer expectations. The
responsibilities include initiation, planning, execution, and monitoring of projects while being committed to
safety, quality, punctuality, and staying within budget. The position functions as a business manager for the
company and is a Department/Area Manager in training. This requires standing in for the Area Manager by
providing supervision and support to all direct reports and communicate with internal/external related parties to
deliver all scope requirements. The focus of this job is on achieving results that align with the organization and its
strategic goals. Initiative, competitive drive, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions
is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this job. Decision-making is focused on implementing
practical, timely solutions. The job requires getting things done quickly and handling a variety of activities. Selfassurance
and the confidence to purposely drive toward results, while constantly engaging the commitment of
others, is essential. A leadership style that is firm and goal-oriented, motivating, provides training, and
enthusiastically engages others is important.

Responsibilities
• Read and fully understand all contract language, and implement it into project management practices
• Schedule and attend all necessary meetings to achieve the project goals
• Address and drive scope, budgets, schedules, and performance requirements
• Participate in customer partnership meetings
• Review construction drawings and specifications to accurately determine their impact on the scope,
budget, and schedule of the project
• Manage customer-initiated change requests, enhance project design and construction quality
• Maintain project plans to scope, schedule, and budget change
• Project kickoff agendas
• Accurate and timely execution of projects assigned by the Area Manager
• Develop project plans that meet contractual requirements, satisfy the needs of the customer, and establish
project objectives
• Knowledge of labor hours and materials needed to complete a job
• Participate in Area/Company decisions and strategic planning
• Provide supervision and assistance to all direct reports within their assigned project(s)
• Select a project team with the proper training, background, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform
the work assigned
• Identification, disposition, and tracking of any quality issues and open items that must be resolved before
project completion
• Identify, maintain, and track project files to provide objective evidence of compliance with contractual
requirements and administrative needs
• Maximizing resource efficiency through procurement of labor, materials, and equipment
• Support for members of the project team
• After conferring with the management team, minimize project oversights and issues to ensure accurate
WIP projections monthly
• Read, understand, and apply contractual requirements to the PM Contract Review process, and apply to
the scope, schedule, and budget of work
• Optimize use of available funds and control the scope of work
• Contract modifications must be reviewed by Area Manager and Contracts department
• Conduct inspection activities and effectively resolve conflicts
• Develop Project Engineers into future Project Managers and Project Managers into Senior Project
Managers
• Responsible for preparing and reviewing estimates for potential jobs, change orders, and cost estimates
• Working knowledge of B&D QA Program, Safety Plan, Change Order Process Controls, and
Implementing Procedures
• Working knowledge of BIM and 3D Construction, Trimble layout, and the benefits of prefabrication
• General knowledge regarding positive and negative past performances, current work scopes, and future
needs in its assigned area
• Effective management of personnel to make the area efficient and hold personnel accountable
• Prepare clear, concise, reports, correspondence, and other written materials
• Ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations using sound independent judgment within general
policy and legal guidelines
• Physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking,
lifting, and climbing
• The job requires intermediate computer proficiency and advanced critical thinking skills
• Other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned

Education and Experience
• Project management certification
• Associates degree in project management
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering
• State journeyman license may substitute for the degree
• Relevant work experience may substitute for the degree or certificate
• Requiring a minimum of seven years in the trades and three years with B&D
• Must be OSHA 30 certified

Supervisory Responsibility
This position includes, but is not limited to, supervision of Project Manager I & II, BIM Staff, Project Engineers,
Superintendents, Foremen, Journeymen, and Laborers.
